After School Tennis Programs |
The Hamilton County Community Tennis Association® is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization founded in 1990. The HCCTA provides tennis and educational programs throughout Hamilton County, Indiana, for players of all ages, abilities and socio-economic backgrounds. The After School Tennis Program was established in 1995 and has grown to over 500 children participating each year. These programs teach children basic tennis strokes and knowledge about tennis, but it goes much further than just tennis. In 2000 a tutoring component was added to assist with the children's learning and a "Character Counts" theme was added in 2002. The Character Counts coalition is a nonpartisan, nonprofit partnership of schools, communities and human service organizations dedicated to developing the “Six Pillars” of good character. The goal of the HCCTA After School Tennis Program is to incorporate character building skills into our existing program. As instructors for the After School Tennis Program, our job is to teach basic tennis skills and lay a solid foundation for character development by implementing the six pillars of character. The After School Tennis Program consists of 6 hours of basic tennis instruction, equipment, certificates, t-shirts, lesson plans, and a free tennis celebration for all participants at Carmel Racquet Club every December. If you know of a school which could benefit from our program, please contact our program coordinator Shannyn Miller at smiller@hccta.org.Participating Schools - 2008More schools will be added shortly.
